Oral Health Advocates Share Why Smiles Matter.

Our 2023 Dental Hygiene Month campaign a huge success thanks to oral health advocates who accessed our free resources to teach an estimated 162,000 kids and parents about the importance of a healthy smile during My Smile Matters!

Educators, public health workers, librarians, childcare workers, dental professionals and other oral health advocates in 42 states (plus Canada, Slovenia, Spain, the UK, Ukraine, South Africa, and Greenland) downloaded free educational materials at MySmileMatters.org to teach kids and their caregivers about topics including:

• oral health tips for babies and pregnant mothers, kids, teens, and adults
• why baby teeth are important
• how to make flossing a habit
• careers in dental hygiene
• the microorganisms that cause cavities, gum disease, and bad breath
• plus fun activity sheets to help kids learn about healthy dental hygiene habits.

Many others purchased the campaign's Smiley tees and hoodies and downloaded the free social media kit to share why healthy smiles matter on social media, reaching countless more!

In addition, five outstanding dental hygienists were recognized for their work to improve the oral health of kids in marginalized communities. See who won here.

The campaign was sponsored by Darby Dental Supply and CariFree, and was promoted in print and online by the campaign's official media sponsor, RDH Magazine.
