There is nothing more precious than a child’s smile. However, according to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, nearly half of children aged 6-11 are affected by tooth decay. While largely preventable, children living in underserved communities are twice as likely to suffer from tooth decay, and are more than twice as likely to go untreated. It can also lead to missed school, trouble eating, sleeping and heightened risk of infections that can be deadly.
In December we partnered with Crest (and Santa!) as part of their 12 Days of Crest Smiles to identify Let’s Smile, Inc. and The Los Angeles Trust for Children’s Health to each receive 10,000 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste along with $5,000 grants to support their missions. Read about their Smile Wishes here.
Crest was so pleased with the results that they signed on along with Oral-B to be the Official Smile Drive sponsors through December 2021. To kick off the partnership we teamed up with actor Miles Brown to Conquer Cavities 2Gether! The campaign encouraged families to pledge to brush for two minutes, twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste. For every pledge, Crest and Oral-B Kids donated a Conquer Cavities kit that included toothpaste, toothbrushes and educational materials, to the children that are served through our Dental Resource Program.
In all, Crest and Oral-B generously donated 10,000 kits to Cass County Dental Clinic in Kansas City, Missouri, Mobile Care Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, FirstHealth Dental Care in Southern Pines, North Carolina, Gateway to Oral Health Foundation in St Louis, Missouri, and Just Kids Dental in Two Harbors, Minnesota. The clinics were thrilled to receive the donated product and shared photos of a few of the kids who can now keep their smiles healthy with proper home care.
