During February, National Children’s Dental Health Month, a generous donation from DentaQuest helped us launch “What’s So Bad About Vaping?” an anti-vaping educational campaign that received high engagement among educators and teens!
507 teachers in 250 major American cities, as well as Canada, Germany, and Ireland downloaded printable educational materials to educate teens and their parents about the risks of vaping. Resources are still available for download for free by clicking here.
Teens and parents received important information about the oral and systemic health risks of vaping and shared what they learned with their peers! The campaign’s educational website, SayNo2Vaping.org received thousands of views during the months of February and March, even in locations as far away as Sweden, China, Poland, and Japan.
Engagement from teens was driven by a meme contest and the participation results exceeded our expectations! We received 368 entries from students in states including California, Colorado, Texas, Kentucky, Arkansas, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Hawaii—and even Dubai!
Our grand prize winner was Mario Rodriguez, age 14, of Culver City, CA. Mario’s meme was the category winner for Most Creative and received a total of 167 shares across Instagram and Facebook. Mario was in a hurry to get his $500 Visa gift card so he could buy his mother a gift!
Other category winners included Logan Lipscomb, age 16, of Anaheim Hills, CA (Funniest), and Joey Yamada, age 11, of Colorado Springs, CO (Most Informative.) Both won $150 Visa gift cards.
